In the Rossendale Valley sits our little village of Helmshore — a quiet place at first glance, but full of history, character, and those small local gems that make it feel special.

🧵 One of Helmshore’s lesser-known highlights is the Helmshore Mills Textile Museum, home to Higher Mill (built in 1789) and Whitaker’s Mill (from the 1820s). These are two of the best-preserved textile mills in the country. They’re no longer working mills, but the museum brings parts of the old machinery back to life through demonstrations, giving you a real sense of the area’s industrial past.
